C-Suite Caution: Is AI Adoption Giving Execs Relief Or More ROI Pressure?

← Back to blogPublishing

From a user-standpoint, AI tools continue to evolve into indispensable means of improving work and finding efficiencies.

A recent survey of C-suite executives by Icertis, however, asks whether that proliferation of AI is creating “relief or more pressure,” as nearly half (46%) said a top concern of theirs is pressure to show ROI on AI investments.

“With so many challenges converging, AI might seem like a panacea — a way to automate the routine, optimize the complex, and unearth insight amid noise,” the Icertis report says. “And indeed, many executives are betting on it. But our survey suggests that AI is not yet an unambiguous source of relief. Instead, it is one more force leaders must actively manage.”

80% of those surveyed said they find it difficult determining which AI investments will make the biggest impact, with factors like AI washing, speed of change, and best-use ambiguity contributing to the pressure.

“While technologies like AI and automation are rightly seen as part of the answer, they are not silver bullets,” the report says. “They must be deployed strategically, governed rigorously, and justified clearly.”
