A survey earlier this year found that the public and AI experts alike were similarly worried about journalism jobs amidst AI’s emergence, a concern likely extended to content creators in general as well.
If you’ve read my AI takes over the years, however, you know that the worry is a misplaced one, with the best creators knowing that AI technology is a tool, not an alternative, and one that can offer opportunities to make creators indispensable in the here and now.
A new PwC report backs up the idea, finding that industries more able and willing to use AI have three times higher growth in revenue generated per worker, and that workers with AI skills are commanding a 56% wage premium, compared to just 25% last year.

“AI is making workers significantly more productive and creating value for companies,” says The Fearless Future: 2025 Global AI Jobs Barometer report. “Companies are using AI to make workers more valuable and productive, not just to streamline headcount. … Contrary to fears about job losses, job numbers — and wages — are growing in virtually every AI-exposed occupation, including the most highly automatable jobs.”
The Neuron’s Grant Harvey goes so far as to say AI looks “less like a job-killer and more like a career-booster,” pointing to the findings that show skills sought by employers are changing 66% faster in jobs exposed more to AI than those less-exposed, more than twice as fast as last year. PwC gives the example of paralegals, who now have AI to help with such tasks as manually reviewing, summarizing, and drafting.
“Now that AI can support with those tasks, paralegals need the skills to operate AI tools and, more than ever, to demonstrate abilities such as critical thinking and collaboration,” the PwC report says. “As employers support workers to acquire new skills at pace, they should also consider how to strengthen employee trust in AI.”
The report highlights how skills will take precedence over degrees when it comes to hiring employees, who’ll need to “demonstrate adaptability, tech fluency, and skills that complement AI like critical thinking.”
“Show your people how AI benefits them,” the report says. “Many workers fear being made obsolete by AI. Help your people see that AI empowers them and embrace the technology — which is critical if AI is to help the organization. Our findings demonstrate that AI can make workers more valuable, not less.”
